Nuclear Iran - Looking forward to Armageddon

A Dangerous Theocracy

In September, Iran conducted a military parade to mark the anniversary of the start of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war. The parade took place south of Tehran, near the tomb of Ayatollah Khomeini. As part of the parade The parade’s announcer repeatedly cried "God is Great!" when six Shahab-3 missiles went past the presidential viewing platform. Some of the missiles had banners saying, "Israel should be wiped off the map" and "We will trample America under our feet," "Death to America," and "Death to Israel." According to MissileThreat.com the Shaahab-3 missile has a range of 746 miles. This already puts Israel and U.S. forces in the region in striking range. However, there are reports that Iran has developed a longer-range ballistic missile called the Shahab-3A. This missile has an increased range of between 1,500 and 1,800 km (932 and 1,118 miles) with an improved guidance system that would probably increase the value of the Shahab-3A for use with military targets. Meaning that Iran may be trying to develop missiles capable of hitting Israel, Europe or the United States itself.

According to some reports, Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad believes in, and is anxiously seeking an impending apocalypse. Instead of a Jewish First Coming of the Messiah or a Christian Second Coming of Christ Jesus, Shiite Islam believes in the Second Coming of the Twelfth Imam, AKA. The Mahdi (Rightly guided one) of course, his reappearance will accompany death and destruction.

According to the belief , The Mahdi, who is to save humankind, disappeared at age 6 in 941, but has been hidden since then by God, an event known as the "occultation". His return is to bring horrible warfare and chaos, followed by absolute peace and justice throughout the world by establishing Islam as the global religion.

On November 16, Ahmadinejad, in a speech to Iranian religious leaders, said "Our revolution’s main mission is to pave a way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi". They believe that when he returns he will reign on earth for seven years, before bringing about a final judgement and the end of the world.

Of course for Christians, only one figure fits the discription of their "Mahdi". Reading the following scriptures may help you make up your mind.

Ezekiel 38, 39
Daniel 10 – 12
Revelation 13
