You won't find Public School teachers instructing a group of 12 year old's from the Bible. They won't be using materials that teach "Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." (Joshua 1:8 NIV) They can't get name tags with their christian names and a cross. They can't be encouraged to grow spiritually by adding to their faith goodness; and to goodness knowledge; and to knowledge self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. (2 Peter 2:5 NIV) If the use of "Under God" in the Pledge of allegiance is so offensive that the 9th circuit deemed it un-constitutional, the use of these precepts to teach moral character to impressionalble 12 year olds would never make it past the school boards legal team.
However islamic indoctrination of 12 year old's at Excelsior Elementary School in Byron, California is OK with the 9th Circuit. A curriculum focused on biblical history, Jesus, or the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob would never survive a constitutional challange at the 9th circuit. While a curriculum were among other things students are placed into Islamic city groups; took Islamic names; wore identification tags that displayed their new Islamic name and the star and crescent moon; and handed materials that instructed them to "Remember Allah always so that you may prosper" was given a green light by a three - judge panel of the 9th circuit. In addition, the students completed the Islamic Five Pillars of Faith, including fasting; memorizing and reciting the "Bismillah" or "In the name of God, the merciful, and compassionate. In the 22 page ruling the court said that this curriculum was just a matter of teaching them about the Muslim religion.
Double Standard? You decide!

boy, get a clue. get over your bias and understand what's going on. there's a difference between saying "muslims worship allah" and "god dictates your actions." serious, i'm sure god is pissed at your refusal to look at things more objectively. also, you spit on the graves of real martyrs who died for their beliefs. please be more respectful.
Don't worry about this commenter--as if he doesn't have a bias of his own.
I agree one hundred per cent with you that it is a double standard. Christianity is the only faith that is not allowed in society, and every thing else goes.
sorry, she
Do I sense a slight bias here? Christians 'teach' whilst Muslims 'indoctrinate'...
Anyway. I personally disagree with any kind of biased religious teaching in schools; schools should inform students of all the world's major religions so they could take their own pick.
My gay friend went to Christian Sunday school for years until he was told he was a sinner and beyond redemption unless he changed his ways. Bottom line, I think we should leave it to God to judge.
